The Engine Room: Ambiel Soundworks HQ
The Ambiel Soundworks facility is more than just a production suite; it is a purpose-built broadcast hub and the nerve centre for Neurotype Sound. Located in the quiet seclusion of rural Suffolk, the studio serves as the exclusive manufacturing plant for NJC’s cinematic audio and the broadcast home of his weekly residency on Laylow FM London.
The Rebuild: A Phoenix Project
The existence of this facility represents a monumental journey of recovery. In 2017, following a severe mental health breakdown, NJC lost his original studio infrastructure and the vast majority of his equipment. The music stopped, and the screens went black.
The road back was not just about buying new gear; it was about rebuilding a life. Over the last few years, NJC has meticulously designed and constructed this new headquarters from the ground up, entirely single-handedly. It stands as a physical manifestation of his return—a space built not just for production, but for peace of mind.
Acoustic Architecture
Drawing on decades of experience frequenting the UK’s elite recording facilities, NJC applied high-level acoustic theory to the construction of the new HQ.
He implemented bespoke sound absorption techniques and geometric acoustic treatment designed to create an accurate critical listening environment. The result is a room that translates perfectly from the raw energy of a drum & bass rig to the fidelity required for broadcast TV sync.
On Air: The Laylow Sessions
Every Wednesday | 16:00 – 18:00 GMT The facility is now fully live. Every Wednesday, NJC connects the quiet of the East Anglian countryside directly to the capital, broadcasting his Bass Music show live on Laylow FM London.
This show signals the official start of output from the new studio—a weekly testament to the fact that while the equipment may have been replaced, the instinct and the sound remain untouched.
